Potencia Ventures is an impact investment group focused on business models that improve the lives of low-income people. We’ve been doing this work since 2002, before “impact investing” was a defined category.
We began by supporting entrepreneurial ecosystems in emerging markets, expanded into backing early-stage funds in 2009, and started making direct investments in 2017. Each step reflected what we were learning and where we noticed gaps.
Today, we focus on expanding access to quality learning and work. We invest in entrepreneurs and fund managers building scalable solutions that help people learn, upskill, and thrive in a rapidly changing labor market. There’s a reason more capital doesn’t flow into these areas. The work is often messy, and progress isn’t always linear. But leaning into that complexity – rather than avoiding it – is where we’ve found the most meaningful results.
Potencia Ventures works with Occam Advisors, an investment advisory firm, to identify, execute, and manage investments in funds and individual businesses.
